Admittedly, allowing a 10 month old to eat a very grainy waffle on my bed was not the best idea I have ever had, but at least I was able to capture a very cute moment.
On a similar vein, I am so glad this little fella likes to eat these waffles. He eats 1/4 of a big belgian-style waffle every day. One Saturday I was feeling ambitious and I ground a bunch of wheat berries, flax and oats in my cuisinart coffee grinder and made a bunch of waffles with the resulting flour (just added eggs, oil, milk, baking powder, a dollup of real maple syrup and cinnamon). After we ate 2 of the 20 I made, I froze the leftovers. Now I just give one to Quint man every morning. I think he likes them because the cold waffle feels good on his gums while he is teething. I humor myself by allowing myself to believe he loves the way they taste too :). Well at least he's getting some whole grains, vitamin E and wheat germ to help him grow!
In other news, Quint man has finally started crawling! He's not a super fast crawler, but he is definitely crawling to toys and things that interest him. I love just putting him down and watching to see what he crawls too. It was so funny, Will and I had been trying for months really to encourage his crawling. We put toys out of his reach, put him on his tummy and even got on our hands and knees and "crawled" in front of him. Will even constructed a device consisting of a contoured (sanded) piece of wood with wheels attached to encourage movement on his tummy. I think Q just likes to do things at his pace, and it is nice to be reminded of that every once and a while :)
